THE ONLY THING THAT STOPS A BAD GUY WITH A GUN IS A GOOD GUY WITH A GUN

The title refers to a statement made by Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the National Rifle Association- a theory advocated by the N.R.A. and President Trump as a solution to mass shootings.

In November, 2018, during two separate incidents, a black man was killed by police while their families said they were trying to stop a gunman.

This painting depicts Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford, Jr., who pulled out a gun and rushed to protect shoppers after gunshots were heard inside an Alabama mall on Thanksgiving night. An off-duty police officer working security at the mall fatally shot him.

The other incident involved a security guard, Jemel Roberson, who was killed while on duty at a Chicago- area bar. He was chasing after a gunman when a police officer fatally shot him.

So, in reality, this statement only applies to white people.
