Dreams of Paradise

In this painting, I tried to illustrate the Islamic concept of Paradise. Similar to Christianity,  everything one longs for in this world will be in Paradise- free from hurt, sorrow, fear or shame. Paradise is surrounded by eight principal gates ( the eight roots of the tree). Life is one of bliss- wearing sumptuous robes, bracelets and perfumes, partaking in exquisite banquets served in priceless vessels by immortal youths while reclining on couches inlaid with gold and precious stones. Beautiful mansions, lofty gardens, shady valleys, rivers flowing with water, milk and honey. They will rejoice in the company of their parents, spouses and children (provided they are admitted too) conversing and recalling the past.  Source: Wikipedia

This painting also addresses the popular ( but inaccurate) Western conception, after 9-11, that the Koran promises martyrs 72 Virgins in Paradise.
