This was painted during the Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality after the killing of George Floyd.
It is a commentary on the wealth disparity in this country and the fact that wealth is often inherited and passed down thru the generations, historically through white families.
The purse and Bible references the time in June, 2020, when law enforcement officers used tear gas to forcefully clear peaceful protestors from Lafayette Square, creating a path for President Trump and senior administration officials to walk from the White House to St. John’s Episcopal Church, where Trump held up a Bible and posed for a photo op.
The gun references the fear some whites have that their lifestyles and values are increasingly being threatened by forces such as Immigration.
It also references Patricia McCloskey, who alongside her husband, pointed a small handgun at BLM demonstrators in front of their St. Louis mansion. The video went viral and they later appeared as speakers at the R.N.C.
It is projected that by 2045, whites will be a minority in this country.
